Ingredients:
4 peeled pears removing its center
1 bottle of Porto wine
1/2 cup of sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
1 clove of anise
4 flavor cloves
Grated nutmeg
1 teaspoon of vanilla
½ grated orange
½ grated lemon
Freshly ground pepper
½ teaspoon of salt
Instructions:
Place all the ingredients except the pears in a deep pan cooking them at médium-heat until boiling. Continue boiling for another 5 minutes while you peel and remove the center part of the pears leaving the small stem in.
Add the pears to the mixture, lower the heat and cook them for 30 minutes more, turning them often so that they cook evenly.
Remove the pears from the pan and continue heating the sauce to half its size.
If you wish, you could cut the pears in half, then cover them with the reduced sauce and serve them with ice cream.
